STONEHAM — Chief Matthew Grafton is pleased to share that firefighter Stoneham Firefighter Mike Coughlin has been promoted to Lieutenant.
Lt. Coughlin was promoted on Feb. 16, and was officially sworn in Friday by Stoneham Town Clerk Maria Sagarino.
Lt. Coughlin joined the Stoneham Fire Department in 2011. Throughout his tenure, Coughlin has been a strong leader for the Department.
Coughlin has a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology, and has 20 years experience in carpentry as a business owner. He also has completed 63 credits toward a Bachelor’s of Science in fire administration. Beginning in May, Coughlin will be assigned to fire prevention, where his background knowledge will continue to support the Department.
He is also a certified open water diver and a member of the Stoneham Fire Department Dive Team, and is a certified EMT.
Coughlin has also been a strong asset when it comes to improving fire station facilities, using his design and planning background as a resource when it comes to making repairs and improvements throughout the building.
“Lt. Coughlin is an undeniable asset to this Department. He always goes above and beyond in a positive, professional manner, to support our community,” said Chief Grafton. “I am confident in his abilities to continue to serve as a positive role model and continue to work as a leader within this department. On behalf of the entire Stoneham Fire Department, I would like to congratulate Lt. Coughlin on his new position.”
