SEEKONK — Seekonk Public Schools is proud to announce the successful launch of its new caregiver engagement initiative, “Together for Student Success,” a series of interactive sessions designed to strengthen partnerships between schools and families while addressing timely topics that impact student well-being and achievement.
The inaugural session, “Protecting Children in the Digital Era,” was held on March 18 in partnership with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County. The event brought together caregivers and school staff for an informative and engaging discussion focused on online safety, social media awareness, and strategies for supporting children in today’s digital world.
Recognizing that student success is deeply connected to strong school-family collaboration, the “Together for Student Success” series aims to provide caregivers with valuable resources, expert insights, and practical strategies to support their children both academically and socially.
“We know that when schools and caregivers work together, students thrive,” said Zachary Waddicor, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. “The strong turnout and meaningful dialogue at our first session reinforced the importance of creating these opportunities for connection and shared learning.”
The district plans to continue the “Together for Student Success” series throughout the year, offering additional sessions on topics informed by caregiver feedback and evolving community needs.
Seekonk Public Schools extends its appreciation to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County for its partnership and to all caregivers who participated in making the first session a success.
On Wednesday, May 6, from 6-7:30 p.m., the Seekonk Public Schools will host their next installment, a virtual session titled “Identifying Anxiety and Supporting Effective Regulation,” presented by the Massachusetts Partnership for Youth.
With an increasing number of children experiencing elevated anxiety levels, this virtual workshop aims to support caregivers in identifying red flags, symptoms and indicators that their child(ren) may be struggling to regulate and manage big feelings. This session will explore the difference between developmental expectations and challenges vs. signs of elevated anxiety, along with the role the brain plays in the experience of emotion, and ways to help support and co-regulate with your children when they are struggling.
Finally, the session will review ways to proactively communicate with your kids in order to promote healthy understanding and expression of all emotions. This workshop is available for staff and parents. Participants will learn ways to proactively communicate with kids in order to promote healthy understanding and expression of all emotions.
