HAVERHILL — Superintendent Margaret Marotta is pleased to share updates regarding the Consentino Building Project.
The project, which began construction in April 2024, is ahead of schedule, with hopes of opening its doors in May 2026. Superintendent Marotta showcased the progress being made as she took Consentino’s Principal Eileen Doherty for a tour of the new building.
Crews are working tirelessly to ensure that the building will have all the necessary elements for Consentino students to thrive and that the project continues to stay on schedule.
The project, originally budgeted for $150 million is currently under budget.
The Consentino project will provide students access to a 21st-century education in alignment with the district’s mission and vision of providing children with a pathway to success.
The building will feature innovative elements such as state-of-the-art science labs, a book vending machine, open learning environments, a new gymnasium, an enclosed courtyard for outdoor dining, and an outdoor recreation area with a middle school age-appropriate playground and a basketball court.
Furniture for the school is scheduled to be delivered on Monday, March 23, fostering excitement among students who will enter the halls in the coming months.
Committed to excellence, Superintendent Marotta has been walking the halls of the new building frequently, ensuring everything is up to par and that the building will properly reflect the community it serves.
Additionally, to support Consentino’s Community School initiative, intentional community spaces have been integrated into the design, including a student-run food pantry and clothing closet, as well as a dedicated kitchen where members of the school community can cook and share meals after hours
To match the revitalization of the Consentino Building, Silver Hill Elementary, located next to Consentino, will be building a new playground and updating landscaping in the coming months, which is a part of the building project.
In the interest of full transparency, Haverhill Public Schools has a page on the district website to communicate with parents, faculty, and the greater Haverhill community. Project updates and the committee’s meeting minutes can be viewed here.
The page also allows community members to submit questions directly to the district leadership.
