WRENTHAM — The Town of Wrentham celebrated its Department of Public Works (DPW) employees and snow contractors at Tuesday night’s Select Board meeting, commending the hardworking crews for their response to multiple storms and the big one, Blizzard Hernando.
The team promptly executes snow removal services with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring the roads are cleared, enabling the community to continue on with daily activities, while protecting the safety and well-being of every town resident.
The Wrentham Select Board presented commendations to the Town’s DPW employees, and snow contractors T.W. DiPlacido Corp., Digger’s Landscaping Inc., and Miles of Excavating.
Wrentham’s snow-removal crews worked tirelessly throughout the winter season, often during overnight hours and weekends, ensuring that the Town’s roads remained accessible for emergency services, businesses and residents.
The historic Blizzard Hernando resulted in the most significant snowfall on record for many communities, and the need for coordinated snow removal operations was continuous. In Wrentham, the snowfall total for that single storm was reported at 22 inches.
Crews spent exhaustive shifts clearing and treating roads, improving lines of sight at intersections, and working on sidewalks to maintain pedestrian safety.
Despite the challenging conditions, the DPW’s dedicated staff and the Town’s snow contractors demonstrated exceptional professionalism, preparedness and efficiency in their response.
“The Town extends its heartfelt thanks to our DPW employees, local plow contractors and public safety personnel who supported snow-removal and road-clearing operations throughout this heavy snowfall winter,” said Wrentham Town Manager Michael J. King. “The safety and well-being of residents during the winter months depends on the dedicated efforts of the DPW and the Town’s partnership with contracted snow-removal professionals to maintain safe and passable roadways.”
