Town of Groton Police Department Announces Traffic Alert and Road Closures for Annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race

Groton Police Department announces a traffic alert and road closures occurring Saturday, March 21, in the Mystic area due to the Annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race.

GROTON — The Town of Groton Police Department announces a traffic alert and road closures occurring Saturday, March 21, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., in the Mystic area due to the Annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race.

This event is a local 5K sponsored by the Town of Groton Parks and Recreation Department and is in conjunction with the “Mystic Irish Parade” being held Sunday, March 22.

The start and finish of this road race are on Pearl Street, which will be closed between Clift and West Main streets, from 8 a.m. until the end of the race.

Clift Street, Grove Avenue, Starr Street, and Gravel Street will experience road closures and traffic back-ups just before the start of the race, at 10 a.m. These closures are expected to last a minimal amount of time.

Access to River Road from Bindloss Road and Route 27 will be closed just before the start of the race and will reopen as soon as safety permits.
