GEORGETOWN — The Town of Georgetown and Georgetown Public Schools are pleased to announce that $850,000 in federal funding has been secured to support improvements to the heating and cooling system at Georgetown Middle-High School (GMHS).
The funding was secured through a 2026 Community Project Funding request submitted by Congressman Seth Moulton on behalf of the community and awarded to the Town of Georgetown.
The request was included in the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development appropriations package passed by Congress and signed into law.
This investment will support upgrades to the school’s HVAC system, improving energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and overall comfort for students and staff. These upgrades will assist in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reduce overall maintenance costs due to the old system.
“We are very pleased to share this news with our school community,” said Superintendent Margaret Ferrick. “This funding is a step forward in ensuring a comfortable and healthy learning environment for our students and staff. We are grateful for the advocacy and support that made this possible.”
“Securing this federal funding reflects the strong partnerships and advocacy that benefit our entire community,” said Town Administrator Orlando Pacheco. “This project strengthens our public infrastructure, and we are proud to see these resources invested in our Georgetown students and staff.”
While the funding is approved, the Town notes that federal distribution timelines can take time, and delays are common during appropriation cycles. Additional updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
