A Young Artist’s Big Moment: SAU90 Student Named Finalist in National Art Competition

HAMPTON — For Kaia Gardner, art is more than a hobby; it’s a way to express creativity, heart, and imagination. That passion has now earned her national recognition.

The Hampton School District student has been named one of the Top 20 finalists in America’s Most Artistic Kid competition, placing her among the most talented young artists in the country. The honor was earned after years of dedication, creativity, and countless hours spent refining her craft.

Kaia’s family describes watching her confidence grow through her artwork as something truly special.

“She has poured so much time into her work,” Kaia’s mother, Jaime Santagate, shared. “We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments.”

The national competition highlights children across America who demonstrate skill and originality.

As a Top 20 finalist, Kaia moves into a public voting phase, where supporters can help determine which artists advance to the next round.

The opportunities ahead are just as exciting as the recognition itself. If Kaia wins, her artwork will be displayed alongside the Bob Ross exhibit in the Minnetrista Museum & Gardens, and she will appear on national television during a special episode of “The Joy of Painting” with Nicholas Hankins. She is also eligible to win up to $20,000 in scholarships to support her future education.

At school, administrators and teachers share in the excitement.

“We are so proud of Kaia,” said Superintendent Dr. Lois Costa. “It’s wonderful to see her hard work and talent recognized. We look forward to supporting her as she continues in the competition.”

The first round of public voting runs from Feb. 16 to Feb. 22, and the school community is eager to rally behind her.
