MEDWAY — Medway Middle School recently hosted its 18th annual Science Fair, with students sharing their findings on a variety of subjects including chemistry, physical science, paleontology and technology.
On Feb. 10, 13 students gathered to present their research at the event.
Participants conducted either research projects or scientific investigations and recorded their procedures and results to determine the validity of their hypotheses. The projects were constructed over four months, beginning with initial research in October and culminating with a presentation at the Science Fair in early February. Each group submitted a research paper and tri-fold poster board explaining their findings to the judges as the final product of their research.
Medway Middle and High School science teachers and administrators served as judges to determine the winning projects.
Zosia Cook and Nora Samperi won first place with their project, “Your Potato Has Potential (Energy).”
Elora Malone and Devanshi Upadhyay scored second place with “Drowned in H2O, Will They Still Glow?” and Sawyer Hope earned third place with “Fossilization Patterns.”
“I am proud of each student who participated in the annual Science Fair,” said Principal Amanda Luizzi. “Everyone involved worked hard to ensure their projects were informative and accurate, which resulted in a day full of unique ideas and inspiring research. I also wish to thank the staff and faculty who acted as judges during our competition.”
“I want to congratulate the three winning teams on this impressive achievement,” said Superintendent Armand Pires. “Their creativity, critical thinking skills and resilience resulted in brilliant projects. These investigations and experiments were detailed, well-researched and presented in an organized manner. I am glad to see our students recognized for their work and looking forward to what they will accomplish next.”
