MEDFIELD — The Thomas Blake Middle School Kindness Club recently hosted a successful Pillow Drive benefiting the Thomas Upham House in Medfield.

The club collected approximately 50 pillows from Blake students, teachers and families, all of which were donated to residents of the Thomas Upham House. Enough pillows were donated to provide each resident with a new throw pillow for their room.

The Kindness Club is a student-led group, consisting of about 15 students and advisor Marissa Gumas. The organization promotes kindness within Blake Middle School and beyond by hosting events and opportunities for the school community to make positive connections, celebrate inclusion and promote empathy.

The club maintains a bulletin board in the school that highlights acts of kindness and ongoing initiatives. Members are currently planning a Kindness Week in March, which will feature a variety of activities designed to spread positivity and build community spirit.

“The Pillow Drive is a prime example of the positive impact we can make when we come together and act with kindness,” said Gumas. “I am proud of our students for showing initiative and organizing this, and want to thank everyone who donated a pillow to this cause. I am happy to share that we reached our goal of donating a pillow to each resident of the Thomas Upham House.”

“Our Kindness Club is a wonderful group of student leaders who consistently go out of their way to spread positivity throughout the community,” said Principal Nat Vaughn said. “Their dedication to helping others is admirable, and I am always proud to see them succeed in their endeavors to spread kindness. The Pillow Drive is yet another instance of their commitment to doing good deeds, and I look forward to seeing their next project.”
