Reeves Elementary to Welcome Eversource and National Theater for Children for Energy Performance

WOBURN — Superintendent Dr. Matthew Crowley and Principal Matthew Comenitz are pleased to share that Reeves Elementary will be hosting the National Theater for Children, in collaboration with Eversource, as part of the school’s energy efficiency initiative.

The National Theater for Children will visit Reeves Elementary on March 3 to put on a performance called “Energy Academy: The Power Squad.”

The performance is being provided by Eversource for students in Grades 3-5, and will focus on a variety of education topics centered around electricity, energy resources, how energy is used unwisely, and how we can use energy efficiently.

To prepare students for the Energy Academy, Eversource and the National Theater for Children provided teachers with curriculum instruction, including books, activities, hands-on lessons and a student website. The student website also offers an e-book for children in Grades K-2 to include all Reeves Elementary school students, since the performance is only for upper elementary grades.

As part of the energy efficiency initiative in Woburn, Superintendent Crowley recently adopted the Change is Simple program, a climate education program, to visit each school in an effort to teach students about the environment and how energy works within the community.

“The inclusion of the Energy Academy performance will help deliver a message to students that energy efficiency and helping our planet is a global mission shared by us all,” said Principal Comenitz. “I would like to thank Eversource and the National Theater for Children for taking the time to visit our school for what is sure to be a special and informative performance.”
