‘Drakeut’ for the Win: Dracut Public Schools to Change Name to Honor Patriots Quarterback on Super Bowl Sunday

DRACUT (aka DRAKEUT) – Dracut Public Schools are hoping to give the New England Patriots an extra boost in bringing the Super Bowl trophy home.

The School Committee will meet on Friday, Feb. 6, at 3:30 p.m. to officially adopt the names “Drakeut Public Schools” and “Drakeut High School” on Super Bowl Sunday in honor of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. Maye led the team to a 14-3 record and three playoff wins and is a finalist for 2026 Most Valuable Player.

Friday’s vote comes after significant social media support for a name change, including from WBZ-TV meteorologist Jacob Wycoff.

“We are excited to vote on a temporary name change for Dracut Public Schools and Dracut High School. A subcommittee met with students on Wednesday afternoon, and they could not have been more excited about supporting the Patriots in a very public way. This is a fun opportunity for our entire school community to show its support for the New England Patriots and Drake Maye as they battle for another Super Bowl victory,” said School Committee Chair Renee Young.
