Avon Police and Fire Departments Respond to Single-Vehicle Crash Into House

AVON — On Thursday, Feb. 5, at approximately 12:31 a.m., the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash at 244 Page St. in Avon. Callers indicated that a single vehicle had struck the house.

The Avon Police and Fire Departments responded and found a single motor vehicle on the lawn of 226 Page St. with two occupants trapped in the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle was traveling east on Page Street, left the roadway, struck a telephone pole guy wire, hit the house at 244 Page St., and then collided with a second unoccupied vehicle in the driveway of 226 Page St., before coming to rest.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to cut the driver’s door off the vehicle and extricate two occupants. The two occupants of the vehicle were transported with injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton.

A Randolph Fire Department engine responded to the scene to assist with the extrication, and one of the patients was transported to the hospital by a Holbrook Fire Department ambulance.

The occupants of 244 Page St., who were home at the time of the crash but uninjured, were allowed to return after the building was assessed for structural damage by the Building Inspector.

The operator of the vehicle will be summonsed to Stoughton District Court at a later date on charges of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and a Marked Lane Violation. Because the court has not yet issued a criminal complaint, the suspect’s identity cannot be released at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Avon Police Department, and further charges may be filed at the outcome of the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information for investigators should contact the Avon Police Department at (508) 583-6677.
