NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that Newport Police Department arrested a Derby man on numerous sexual offenses against a juvenile following a month-long investigation.
DAVID WHITCOMB, AGE 60, of DERBY, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and charged with:
- Lewd and Lascivious Conduct
- Sexual Assault
On Jan. 14, Newport Police was assigned to a case through the Orleans County Child Advocacy Center that alleged that WHITCOMB was engaging in sexual acts with minors, as recently as December 2025.
In their investigation, evidence collected by Newport Police supported the allegations.
WHITCOMB was held without bail at Northern State Correctional Facility. He will be arraigned in Orleans Criminal Court on Wednesday.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
