BLACKSTONE — The Blackstone Police Department welcomed two new officers to its ranks, with a swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday at the Board of Selectmen meeting.
Both of the new officers, Officer Corey Giguere and Officer Nicholas Green, were hired recently with experience from other smaller departments, helping Blackstone to fill its roster. The Blackstone Police Department is now fully staffed with 18 full-time officers.
Officer Corey Giguere
Officer Giguere was born and raised in Blackstone, attended Blackstone Millville Regional High School and is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
Previously, Officer Giguere worked as a police officer in Millville and Seekonk. In the past several years of his career, he worked closely with Blackstone Police officers, while earning several advanced police-related training certificates.
“He is highly motivated and looks forward to working in his hometown of Blackstone,” said Blackstone Police Chief Gregory Gilmore.
Officer Nicholas Green
Officer Green comes to Blackstone with several years of police-related experience, including working for the Massachusetts Department of Correction and the Millville Police Department.
Officer Green also holds many advanced police-related training certificates, and he is working toward a degree in Criminal Justice.
“Officer Green is another officer that has worked closely with many of our current officers and will integrate seamlessly with our department,” Chief Gilmore said. “He will be a great asset to our department.”
Chief Gilmore congratulated Officer Giguere and Officer Green, welcoming them to the Blackstone Police Department.
“Each of these two officers possess an impressive desire to serve, and we’re extremely excited to welcome them to the Blackstone Police Department,” said Chief Gilmore. “Both of them are in the early stages of their careers, with strong ties to the community and our department. They strengthen our ability to serve and protect the people of Blackstone. I wish them both great success in their time with our department, and I expect the residents of Blackstone will embrace them as they get to know each new officer.”
