WAKEFIELD — The Union Fire District of South Kingstown and mutual aid partners extinguished a blaze at a marina in Wakefield on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, at about 2:21 p.m., the Union Fire District of South Kingstown responded to a reported fire in a building at Ram Point Marina on William Schmid Drive.

When crews arrived, they found a storage garage engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from the Union Fire District of South Kingstown and the Kingston Fire District, which provided mutual aid, were able to contain the fire to the storage building.

Several boats stored nearby sustained heat damage due to the heavy flames.

The storage garage was deemed a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

“Thanks to the quick work of our firefighters and our partners from the Kingston Fire District, we were able to contain this fire to the storage building and prevent it from spreading to any nearby structures,” said Chief Steven Pinch. “The teamwork and coordinated response made a real difference.”
