WILMINGTON — Chief Brian Pupa wishes to highlight the quick actions of Wilmington Police officers who assisted a resident during a well-being check on Thursday.
On Thursday, Jan. 29, at approximately 7:25 p.m., a caller told Wilmington Police they had not been able to contact a family member who lived on Cunningham Street and was prone to falling.
Upon arrival officers observed an individual that appeared to be on the floor unresponsive. Officers made several efforts to enter, then broke through the front door, and immediately rendered care.
The resident was transported to an area hospital by Wilmington Fire for what were believed to be minor injuries.
One officer sustained a laceration on his hand while trying to gain entry into the home. The officer was transported to Lahey Hospital by Wilmington Fire, treated and later released.
“I am proud of our officers for doing everything in their power to help a resident who was in need of assistance,” said Chief Pupa. “Due to their efforts, they were able to make entry into the home and administer care. We have an obligation to our community to provide care, compassion and assistance and we are fortunate we were able to help our resident in need.”
