ACTON — The Acton Fire Department worked Thursday night to contain a dryer fire in frigid weather conditions.

On Thursday, Jan. 29, at approximately 8:23 p.m., the Acton Fire Department was called to 21 Gabriel Lane for a report of a fire in a dryer.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a fire in a dryer. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and contained it to the dryer.

There were no reported injuries.

Firefighters from Littleton, Stow and Boxborough covered Acton Fire stations while Acton companies responded to this fire.

“I’m grateful that our crews were able to respond quickly and contain this fire to the dryer were it originated,” said Chief Anita Arnum. “Damage was limited because the homeowner took the proper action and shut the dryer door and then called 911.”

Chief Arnum would like to remind residents that it helps the Fire Department tremendously if residents help keep local fire hydrants shoveled out and free from snow. It also helps firefighters if residents keep the entryway to their homes cleared of snow.
