GEORGETOWN — Georgetown Public Schools has appointed Sara Hoomis as Georgetown Middle High School principal following an extensive search that began in October 2025, including a community needs assessment, the development of a screening committee, and a series of interviews.

Hoomis’s appointment is a full-circle moment, as she began her career in education within Georgetown Public Schools as a student-teacher and paraprofessional at the former Perley School.

Since then, Hoomis has worked in leadership positions within the school districts of Gloucester, Lowell and Revere. In Gloucester, she worked as an English teacher before progressing to be Assistant Principal of O’Maley Middle School, and in Lowell, she served six years as Assistant Principal at Robinson Middle School. Most recently, Hoomis spent nearly nine years with Revere Public Schools, first as Principal at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School and then as the Executive Director of Student Support.

Hoomis will bring to the Middle High School a style of leadership built around student belonging, deeper learning implementation, community engagement, strategic planning and innovation, and culture building and family partnership.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sara as she returns to our Georgetown community,” said Superintendent Dr. Margaret Ferrick. “Through the interview process, it became clear to us that Sara had a vision for the Georgetown community that aligned strongly with our goals as a District — to provide an inclusive environment that meets students and staff where they are at academically, social-emotionally, and professionally. We are excited to formally bring her on board and look forward to  seeing the direction she takes our Middle High School.”

Hoomis will assume the position in July 2026. Until then, she will be integrating herself into Georgetown whenever possible, making visits to the school and attending events so that she can begin to meet students and families as she makes her transition.
