LOWELL — The Lowell community stepped up in a big way this holiday season and donated about 1,500 toys to the Lowell Police Department’s 11th annual toy drive.

Thanks to the generosity of community partners, this year’s toy drive collected a record number of toys for Lowell children in need.

New, unused and unwrapped toys and gifts donated by Lowell Police officers and employees, individual donors, and community partners included clothing, makeup, action figures, gift cards, books, coloring books, dinosaurs, craft supplies, dolls, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, fidget toys, sports equipment, bicycles and more.

Lowell Public Schools social workers distributed the toys and gifts.

The 2025 Lowell Police Department toy drive benefited from the generosity of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, the Lowell Police Patrolmen’s Union, the Lowell Police Superior Officer’s Union, PAL of Massachusetts, the Officer Sean Collier Memorial Fund, Friends of Shana — Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Friends of Tyler Park, the Lowell High School National Honor Society, the Lowell High School Hockey Team, and Pridestar Trinity EMS.

The Lowell Regional Transit Authority also contributed a large number of toys thanks to support from Local ATU 1578, the LRTA Management Team, the Conductors Union, LRTA passengers, and Mill City Santa.

“Our annual toy drive is a bright spot for the department each holiday season,” said Superintendent Greg Hudon. “This is our department’s opportunity to give back to the community we serve, and the generosity of our officers and community partners showed through in a big way this year. Thank you to everyone who supported us in our efforts to make the holidays a little brighter for children in Lowell.”
