ACTON — The Town of Acton is pleased to announce the launch of a new website designed to make it easier for residents to access CrossTown Connect, the Town’s free local transit service.
CrossTown Connect offers safe and reliable transportation throughout Acton, and Littleton, as well as to medical facilities in Concord. The service can be used for a wide range of purposes, including travel to work, medical appointments, shopping, and social or recreational activities.
The new website, crosstownconnect.org provides a central hub for riders to view fixed shuttle routes, learn where services operate, and request rides to destinations not served by scheduled routes. Riders can submit ride requests directly through the website, which are coordinated by the CrossTown Connect dispatch team.
Under the “Routes” section of the homepage, users can view shuttle schedules for the fixed Acton and Boxborough routes, including all scheduled stops and service times.
For destinations not served by the fixed routes, riders may request an on-demand trip by selecting “Request a Ride.” Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, must be made at least 24 hours in advance, and can be scheduled up to one month ahead. Riders may also contact the CrossTown Connect Dispatch Center at 978-844-6809 or dispatcher@crosstownconnect.org for assistance with trip requests.
In addition to ride scheduling, the website includes information about local points of interest in Acton and Littleton, connections to other public transportation options, service policies, and answers to frequently asked questions.
The website features a Google Translate tool that allows content to be translated into more than 100 languages. It is also fully ADA compliant and meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level AA standards, ensuring accessibility for all users.
The website was designed by John Guilfoil Public Relations.
