NAHANT– Once again, Nahant Police Department’s “Stuff A Cruiser” event returns, running from Saturday, Nov. 29, to Monday, Dec. 15.
The department will once again utilize the Humvee, the Emergency Management Department’s emergency transport vehicle, to collect donations, which can be dropped off at the Nahant Police Station, 198 Nahant Rd.
The toy drive will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn, which serves over 1,500 children between the ages of 5 and 18 from Lynn, Nahant, Swampscott, and other surrounding communities.
Nahant Police asks that gifts delivered to the department are new, unwrapped, and age-appropriate for those aged 5-13. Potential gift ideas for donations include: puzzles and board games, LEGO sets, sporting goods, or art sets/sketchbooks.
All donations will be collected and delivered to the Boys & Girls Club by Marine Corps League Detachment #1302, which serves the North Shore area of Massachusetts.
“The generosity of Nahant residents over the past few years that we have been holding this drive is immeasurably appreciated,” said Chief Furlong. “The fact that this will benefit our area’s children and help them have a magical holiday season is a testament to the community we have built in this little town on the North Shore.”
In past years, the toy drive has been immensely successful, so much so that the usual police cruiser had to be emptied several times to make room for more donations. Last year was the first time the department utilized the Humvee in an effort to collect even more donations.
