LITTLETON — Chief of Police Matthew Pinard reports that the Littleton Police Department responded and is investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Littleton Common.
Littleton Police and Fire responded shortly after 7 p.m. to the intersection of King and Goldsmith Streets. Upon arrival, rescuers found a 79-year-old Acton woman who had been struck by a sedan. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
The motorist, a local food delivery driver, remained at the scene and has cooperated with police.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck, however the incident remains under investigation.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area Wednesday evening.
