AVON — The Avon Fire Department is pleased to announce that Firefighter Kyle Gray graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program Class #334 on Monday, Dec. 1.

Firefighter Gray was joined by his mother Lauren and father Matt, a 24-year veteran of the Holbrook Fire Department, to celebrate the culmination of an intense 10-week training program to prepare him for his career with the Avon Fire Department.

Gray was one of 28 firefighters who graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program on Dec. 1.

“Massachusetts firefighters are on the frontlines protecting their communities every day, and today’s graduates are needed now more than ever,” said State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine. “The hundreds of hours of foundational training they’ve received will provide them with the physical, mental, and technical skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely.”

Firefighter Gray has been with Avon Fire for more than a year, since joining the department in August of 2024. He completed a paramedic program and earned his paramedic license in August of this year, further showcasing his dedication to the department and the community.

Gray also works as a Clinical Assistant at Children’s Hospital in Boston and serves as a Machinegun Section Leader in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

“Kyle is a great leader and mentor in the fire station and has a passion for EMS and education,” said Assistant Fire Chief Brad Cronin. “Kyle’s unwavering dedication to serving both his community and the Armed Forces reflects the highest standards of public service. He is an outstanding addition to the Avon Fire Department and a leader who will strengthen our team for years to come.”
