BLACKSTONE — Chief Kevin Roy is pleased to announce that Firefighter Cory Denault has graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Call/Volunteer Firefighter Recruit Training Program.

Denault was one of 23 recruits from across the Commonwealth to complete Class #121, a 240-hour program held on nights and weekends to accommodate call and volunteer firefighters who serve while balancing full-time jobs or other commitments.

Through this program, Denault earned his Firefighter I/II Pro Board Certification, meeting national standards under the NFPA 1001: Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications.

At the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, recruits train under certified instructors in the latest fire behavior and suppression tactics, public fire safety education, hazardous material mitigation and rescue operations. They also complete extensive physical fitness and live-fire exercises to build the skills necessary to respond safely and effectively to any emergency.

Denault, 37, was born in Fall River and is a graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Class of 2007. He went on to study Culinary Arts at Bristol Community College. In 2024, he earned his National EMT certification through the National Medical Education & Training Center (NMETC) in Bridgewater.

“Firefighter Denault put in countless hours of hands-on and classroom training to prepare for the wide range of emergencies our members respond to every day,” said Chief Roy. “We’re thrilled to officially welcome him as a fully certified firefighter.”
