Ashby Police Department Awarded $14,387 Municipal Road Safety Program

ASHBY — Police Chief Derek Pepple is pleased to announce that the Ashby Police Department has received a $14,387 traffic safety grant from the Massachusetts Office of Grants and Research.

Funding was provided through the Municipal Road Safety Program, which awarded grants to 204 police departments statewide to support traffic safety efforts.

Ashby Police Department will use its funding for increased enforcement efforts of distracted and impaired driving. Ashby Police will be enforcing extra patrols during the initiative to ensure safe driving throughout the community.

The Municipal Road Safety Grant Program is made available through funds awarded to Massachusetts by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As the state administering agency for NHTSA funds received by Massachusetts, the Office of Grants and Research manages and administers these funds.

“We at the Ashby Police Department graciously thank the OGR for this award,” said Chief Pepple. “The funding will be put toward maintaining safe roadways for our residents and community members.”
