LAKEVILLE — Chief Matthew Perkins and the Lakeville Police Department are urging the public to avoid one of the main intersections in town after an early morning motor vehicle crash destroyed two utility poles.
Precinct Street is closed at this time between Bedford and Pickens Streets due to ongoing repair work.
Avoid the area. Motorists are urged to obey any posted detours. Motorists south of the intersection may use Heritage Hill Drive. Expect delays through the morning and likely into the afternoon hours.
There is also a localized power outage in the area, and electric service is known to be out at the Lakeville Public Library, the United Church of Christ and at least one home in the area. Activities at the Library are cancelled Saturday.
Early Saturday morning a motorist reported that they swerved to avoid a deer and struck a utility pole, causing a second pole to fall. The motorist was not seriously injured.
