North Middlesex Regional School District Awarded More Than $18,000 in State STEM Grant Funding

TOWNSEND — North Middlesex Regional School District has been awarded $18,651 from the Healey-Driscoll Administration in support of STEM programming.

The funding was part of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s (MLSC) STEM Equipment and Professional Development Grant Program and the Workforce Development Capital Grant Program. The MLSC awarded more than $3.3 million for roughly 49 projects through the grant program.

Through the program, award recipients will use funding to purchase new equipment, provide teachers with technology, and supplies.

The district will utilize the funding to expand its current STEM programs at both middle schools, which include having sets of LEGO Robotics materials for students to build, learn, and practice their skills.

“I would like to thank the Administration for awarding us this funding, which will allow us to expand our programs. These grants are vital because they help our students advance in their chosen careers and interests and be prepared for success after graduation,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Gary Burboa-Reese.
