TYNGSBOROUGH — Tyngsborough Police arrested and charged a New Hampshire man following a motor vehicle pursuit through town on Saturday night.
MATTHEW YOUNG, AGE 33, of NASHUA, N.H., was arrested and charged with:
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Reckless Operation
- Marked Lanes Violation (Infraction)
- Speeding (Infraction)
On Saturday, Oct. 18, at approximately 9:39 p.m., Tyngsborough Police were notified that several police department’s in New Hampshire were in pursuit of a gray 2021 Mazda 3 whose driver was wanted on a warrant in New Hampshire. Dispatchers were advised that the pursuit was heading toward Tyngsborough.
Tyngsborough Police took positions along Frost Road as the pursuit entered town and took over pursuit from New Hampshire police. Tyngsborough Police deployed stop sticks as the pursuit went down Frost Road, and flattened at least one of the tires on the Mazda.
Officers then pursued the vehicle at speeds of approximately 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Frost Road, Chronopoulos Way and Pawtucket Boulevard, until the vehicle finally came to a stop in the area of 185 Pawtucket Boulevard.
The driver, later identified as YOUNG, was then taken into custody.
YOUNG was arraigned on Monday in Lowell District Court.
