NEWBURY — The Town of Newbury is recognizing resident Eugene Case for his significant contributions to the town over the years.
Eugene Case was presented with a certificate of recognition by the Town of Newbury during a ceremony held on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Case has served on a variety of town boards since 1972, including the School Committee and the Finance Committee.
Case taught at both Newbury Elementary School and Triton Regional Middle School.
Guest speakers included State Sen. Bruce Tarr, who presented Case with a Citation from the Senate, and Rep. Kristin Kassner, who presented Case with a Citation from the House of Representatives.
“Over that span of years, Gene was a solid influence in Newbury’s transition from a somewhat shaky to a much more fiscally solid state by implementing a policy of robust financial practices. In total, Gene dedicated his energy to education and to public service. We thank him for his volunteerism, his expertise, and his quest to achieve collaborative solutions,” Select Board Chair William DiMaio said during the recognition ceremony.
“This was a well-deserved recognition, as Gene has been an exceptional resource to the Town,” said Town Administrator Tracy Blais.
