*MEDIA ADVISORY* Lexington to Host Diwali Celebration and Light Show in the Center Oct. 15

LEXINGTON — The Town of Lexington invites community members to gather in Lexington Center on Wednesday, Oct. 15, for an evening of light, music, and community celebration in honor of Diwali, the Festival of Lights.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and will feature Diwali-inspired activities, food, and entertainment throughout the Center, culminating in a Diwali Light Show and Illumination at the Historical Museum by Youth STEAM Initiative at around 8 p.m.

The light show, created originally for the LexLux event in January in partnership with the Youth STEAM Initiative, will feature colorful projections inspired by Diwali’s message of light overcoming darkness.

This celebration marks the second Lex250 Signature Event, part of the Lex250 Commission’s monthly event series leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. The American Revolution began in Lexington on April 19, 1775, with the Battle of Lexington.

Each Lex250 Signature Event will showcase a different aspect of Lexington’s history and culture.

“Diwali celebrates renewal and hope — themes that resonate deeply with Lexington as we approach our nation’s 250th anniversary,” said Lex250 Chair Mona Roy. “The light show will be a beautiful reflection of our community’s creativity, collaboration, and diversity.”

Festivities will begin at Clay Oven Restaurant, 1666 Massachusetts Ave., where families can enjoy crafts, games, and a buffet dinner. Dinner reservations can be made at clayovenlexington.com by selecting the “Events” tab.

Businesses throughout Lexington Center are joining the celebration with Diwali-themed offerings, including festive sweets at Liberty Sweets, an Indian film screening at The Venue, themed book selections at Maxima, and Indian-inspired ice cream at Rancatore’s.

Music will fill Emery Park from 6 to 8 p.m. with DJ Praveen from Kadak Chai, leading up to the illumination at the Historical Museum.

The event is presented by the Town of Lexington, Lex250 Commission, Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL), Lexington Economic Development Office, Lexington Chamber of Commerce, Lexington Retailers Association, Clay Oven, and Spaulding Management LLC.

Members of the media are invited to attend. The light show provides excellent photo and video opportunities, and organizers will be available for interviews before the illumination.
