East Bridgewater Police Department Receives $30K Grant to Purchase New Undercover Vehicle

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department has received $30,000 in federal funding that will be used to purchase a new undercover vehicle for investigations and surveillance purposes.

The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that a total of $5.5 million in federal funding through the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program is being dispersed to Massachusetts communities to support local police, prosecutors and statewide initiatives.

The $30,000 in JAG funding will enable the East Bridgewater Police Department to acquire a new undercover vehicle that will strengthen its investigatory capabilities and enhance officer safety. The vehicle will be used for targeted criminal surveillance, property crime investigations, and drug enforcement operations.

“These funds from the JAG program will be put to good use, increasing the capability of our department to keep our community safe,” said Chief Jenkins. “All the support that we receive from our state and federal partners helps us better equip our officers to maintain the safety and wellbeing of our community. We thank them for their continued support and look forward to putting these investments to good use to better protect and serve the Town of East Bridgewater.”

Across Massachusetts, 171 local police departments and 28 state agencies received Byrne JAG funding to address community safety needs, modernize equipment, and expand innovative prevention strategies. JAG funds can be used for training, personnel, technical assistance, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and criminal justice information systems.
