EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department has filed 21 additional charges against a Brockton man arrested in March for photographing a woman in the shower at the East Bridgewater YMCA.

ABIDAN RIVERA, AGE 43, of BROCKTON, is charged with:

  • Photographing, Videotaping or Electronically Surveilling Someone Nude/Partially Nude, or Sexual Intimate Parts (17 Counts)
  • Posing or Exhibiting Child in State of Nudity or Sexual Conduct (Two Counts)
  • Possession of Child Pornography (Two Counts)

RIVERA was arrested on March 2 on a charge of Photographing, Videotaping or Electronically Surveilling Someone Nude/Partially Nude, or Sexual Intimate Parts. He later pleaded guilty in May and is currently incarcerated at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.

The ongoing investigation, including a forensic examination of RIVERA‘s cellphone by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Evidence Analysis Team (H.E.A.T.), led to the discovery of 17 more illicit images.

The images are of both women and children, nude and unaware they were being photographed, that appear to have been taken in the family locker room of the East Bridgewater YMCA.

“I want to commend Detective Cecelia Cacciatore for her persistence during this careful, detailed, and thorough investigation,” said Chief Jenkins. “We thank the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office for their valuable assistance. Collaborative efforts like this are essential to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.”

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
