Newburyport Police and Fire Respond to Assist Injured Boater

NEWBURYPORT — City Marshal Matthew Simons and Fire Chief Stephen H. Bradbury III report that the Newburyport Police and Fire Departments responded to an incident involving an injured boater. 

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Newburyport Police and Fire Departments were notified by a 911 call that an individual who fell off a boat about five miles from shore was in need of medical attention.

Individuals on the boat performed CPR on the adult male victim. Newburyport first responders took over those efforts after the boat brought the man to a private dock on Plum Island Point.

Newburyport first responders then transported the man to a local hospital in critical condition.

Newburyport Police and Fire were assisted by the Newbury Fire Department, Atlantic Ambulance, Amesbury Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.
