LEXINGTON — The Lex250 Commission invites residents and visitors to join in the first Signature Lex250 Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, a weekend of music and cultural celebration marking the start of monthly events that will lead up to the nation’s 250th birthday in July 2026.

Saturday begins with the 3rd annual Lexington Porchfest, a free community music festival showcasing more than 90 local musical acts performing at about 60 porches, patios, and driveways across town. Performances run from 1 to 5 p.m., with a special closing act at 5 p.m. at the historic Stone Building, 735 Mass Ave., featuring the Rocking Horse People in a “Beatles Moptop to Rooftop Sing-Along.”

A raindate is set for Sept. 28 for Porchest. For performance schedules, maps, and details, visit lexingtonporchfest.org.

The celebration continues with three more Signature Lex250 Weekend events:

“Porchfest has quickly become a Lexington tradition, and we’re excited to see it anchor the first of our Signature Lex250 Weekends,” said Lex250 Commission Chair Mona Roy. “This series will highlight the diversity, creativity, and shared spirit of our community as we build toward the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.”

About the Lex250 Commission

The Lex250 Commission was established by the Lexington Select Board to make recommendations and coordinate activities that celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington – the first battle of the American Revolution – and other events related to the founding of our country. The Commission continues to plan Town events, including the 2026 battle re-enactment in April and the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
