Over 200 Malcolm White Students Gifted Backpacks and School Supplies from Woburn Toyota and the Kids in Need Foundation

WOBURN — As the school year begins, some students and families may wonder where and how they will be able to afford new school supplies and backpacks.

At Woburn’s Malcolm White School, students and families’ worries are put to ease as Woburn Toyota and the Kids in Need Foundation donated and handed out backpacks and school supplies to over 200 students.

Backpacks and supplies were handed out on Sept. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by two representatives of the Kids in Need Foundation, who flew in from Minnesota to organize the process. About a dozen Woburn Toyota employees worked directly with the students and families during the giveaway.

Malcolm White Elementary, a Title 1 school, has a significant number of students who live in financial uncertainty, and their families are challenged to provide school supplies ahead of the school year. However, through the district’s collaboration and with the assistance of local and national organizations, each student who needed assistance receives it.

“We are proud to be able to hold this event for our students, and we are thankful for the support from Kids in Need Foundation and Woburn Toyota for donating their time and supplies to our students in need,” said Principal Robert Nickerson. “Often times many families in our community have to make the difficult choice between buying school supplies or groceries, but this program is a great stress reliever for our families. In Woburn, we are committed to our children’s education no matter their socioeconomic background, as learning knows no bounds. This was a wonderful way to give back to our students ahead of this year’s school year.”
