FALL RIVER — Fall River Public Schools and the Parent and Community Engagement (PACE) Center are celebrating the launch of the PACE On The Go RV with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

WHEN:

Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1 p.m.

WHERE:

PACE Center, 367 Ray St., Fall River

WHO:

  • Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley
  • Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan
  • PACE Director Cynthia Couto
  • Assistant Superintendent of Student Services & Strategic Integration Dr. Aimee Bronhard

WHAT:

Following a generous donation of a recreational vehicle by Southcoast Health to the District late last year, Fall River Public Schools is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of the new PACE On The Go RV.

The PACE On The Go RV was renovated and rebranded earlier this year and will now be introduced to the community, coinciding with the start of the 2025-26 school year. The PACE On The Go RV will allow the school district to provide families and students with vitally important PACE services right in their own neighborhoods.

PACE is a dedicated resource hub for families of students in the Fall River Public Schools, supporting registration needs, family services, and community engagement programming.

The PACE On The Go RV will provide a mobile office space offering help with school registrations, workshops, applications for essential services like MassHealth and SNAP benefits, referrals to community partners, vaccine clinics, parent education services, and support for other events in collaboration with our community partners.

The PACE On The Go RV is the first of its kind in Massachusetts, operated by a school district to offer these comprehensive services in this manner.

“By bringing PACE Center services directly into the communities, we can connect with families and students wherever they may be,” said Director Couto. “Transportation poses a challenge for many of our families. Our new PACE On The Go RV bridges the gap, delivering solutions for students, their parents and caregivers. We look forward to expanding our services through community partnerships in order to offer vaccine clinics and to provide other medical services, such as physical examinations and sick visits.”

The PACE On The Go RV is Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, and it is equipped with three meeting spaces, a waiting area, and a diesel generator, capable of providing power for several days. The mobile office also contains a bathroom, medical examination equipment, and furniture.

The idea for a mobile PACE center was originally conceived by Fall River Public Schools Administrative Assistant Dawn Moniz in 2023. Last year, Couto reached out to Southcoast Health after learning that the not-for-profit hospital company had an RV for sale. Instead of selling it, Southcoast decided to generously donate it to the District. PACE then secured a grant funding to repair, rewrap, and cover running costs for the PACE On The Go RV.

“We are very excited to see the PACE On The Go RV hit the streets,” said Superintendent Dr. Curley. “This ribbon cutting is the culmination of two years of planning and hard work to bring this idea to fruition. We’d like to thank Southcoast Health for making such an incredible contribution to Fall River Public Schools and to the families of the District. We are extremely grateful to be able to bring our PACE Center team directly into the communities to provide essential services in order to meet the crucial needs of our students, parents and caregivers.”
