BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that Bridgewater Police Detectives, working with investigators from the New York State Police, have arrested a New York man following an approximately five-month investigation into alleged crimes against a juvenile.
GEOFFREY I. GERBER, AGE 29, of HICKSVILLE, NY, was arrested and charged with:
- Disseminating Obscene Matter to Minor
- Obscene Telephone Calls/Electronic Communications
- Enticing a Child Under 16
- Post/Exhibit Child in Sexual Act
- Aggravated Rape of Child, Ten-Year Age Difference
On Thursday, Aug. 14, Bridgewater Police Detectives transported GERBER back from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department in New York, where he was being held after New York State Police arrested him on a warrant obtained by Bridgewater Police Detectives.
He was booked at that time at the Bridgewater Police Department, later transported to the Plymouth County Correctional Facility in Plymouth, and then brought to Brockton District Court.
The investigation began when the victim contacted Bridgewater Police. Bridgewater Police Detective Peter Balboni, with assistance from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Children’s Advocacy Center, determined GERBER had contact with the juvenile victim through multiple social media platforms.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
