Taunton Police Respond to Two Motor Vehicle Crashes

TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department responded to two motor vehicle crashes that occurred within 15 minutes on Friday.

On Friday, Aug. 22, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Taunton Police responded to 129 Tremont Street for reports that a bicyclist had been struck by a motor vehicle. 

The bicyclist, a 14-year-old female, was transported to a local trauma center for serious injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle, a Dodge Durango, remained on scene and is cooperating with police. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Taunton Police with the assistance of the Taunton Police Crash Reconstruction Unit. 

At 5:48 p.m., Taunton Police also responded to the area of the Cape Highway and Richmond Street for reports of a motor vehicle crash involving two cars and a motorcycle.  

Upon arrival, first responders observed three damaged vehicles, a Victory V92, a Hyundai and a GMC pickup truck.

The operator of the Victory, a 35-year-old male from Middleborough, was transported to a local trauma center via medical helicopter for serious injuries. 

The driver of the Hyundai, a 60-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be minor injuries. 

The driver of the GMC, a 27-year-old male, did not report any injuries. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Taunton Police with the assistance of the Taunton Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
