NAHANT — Police Chief Timothy Furlong and Fire Chief Austin Antrim report that the Police and Fire responded to a water incident at Nahant Short Beach.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Nahant Police and Fire responded to Nahant Short Beach for reports of an individual in distress in the water.
A preliminary investigation determined that an individual was riding what appeared to be surfboard-like water toy, before being found in the water. The individual was brought to shore by passersby. An off-duty Cambridge Firefighter and off-duty nurse began life-saving aid prior to arrival of first responders.
Upon arrival, first responders took over life-saving care, and transported the individual, a 57-year-old male from Nahant, to an area hospital, with serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by Nahant Police.
