Greater Lawrence Technical School Awarded $1,320,000 Career Technical Initiative Round 10 Grant to Expand Training for Jobseekers

ANDOVER — Superintendent John Lavoie is proud to share that Greater Lawrence Technical School (GLTS) has been awarded a Career and Technical Initiative (CTI) Round 10 grant to expand training opportunities for adult learners seeking jobs in high-demand trade occupations. 

The $1,320,000 in funding, courtesy of the Healey-Driscoll administration, will enable Greater Lawrence Technical School to provide training to 132 participants for HVAC, Auto Tech, Auto Collision Repair, Electrical, Plumbing, Welding and Carpentry positions.

GLTS will partner with Don Kennett Inc., Empire Auto Parts, McGovern Automotive, Leo & Sons Auto Repair, Subaru of New England, Centimark Corporation, Delphi Construction, Shawnlee Construction, Ace Solar, Boston Solar, Solamp, Climate Zone, Monahan Technologies, New England Cooling Towers, Breen & Sullivan, Climate Zone, Boston Metal, Joel Fabrications and Salem Metal.

The CTI grant program — overseen by the Commonwealth Corporation— partners with Career and Technical Education (CTE) schools to provide adult learners, especially unemployed and underemployed individuals from underserved populations and underrepresented groups, with career training and technical skills to meet the needs of Massachusetts employers.

“Greater Lawrence Technical School is in the forefront of preparing Merrimack Valley residents for lucrative technical careers, while also connecting industry with new talent to build their labor pipeline,” said Superintendent Lavoie. “We are immensely grateful to the Commonwealth for this CTI Round 10 grant to continue delivering valuable technical programming to support our local economy.”
