FALL RIVER — Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley is pleased to announce that Dr. Stacy Monette has been named the new principal of the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy.

Dr. Monette, who previously served as principal of Charlton Middle School and Mashpee Middle High School, assumed her new role in Fall River Public Schools effective Aug. 1.

“I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be joining the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency
Preparatory Academy as principal,” Dr. Monette said. “The word ‘resiliency’ really resonates with me. It reflects strength, growth, and determination, which are qualities I deeply admire in a school community. The academy’s mission and the spirit behind its name are what drew me in. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about the students and the unique energy that makes this school so special.”

Dr. Monette was principal of Charlton Middle School from 2023 through the end of the 2025 schoolyear and was principal of Mashpee Middle High School from the July 2022-23 school year. Prior to that, she was the principal of Baird Middle School in Ludlow for six years. Dr. Monette also served for nine years as an assistant principal for Belchertown Public Schools. Dr. Monette began her career as a special education teacher in New Jersey.

“Each of those roles taught me something different and helped shape who I am as a school leader,” Dr. Monette said. “I’ve always been passionate about supporting students during their middle and high school years and believe that these are such critical times for growth. I’m happy to bring all that I’ve learned to Resiliency Preparatory Academy and to continue growing right alongside this community.”

Dr. Monette holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Westfield State University. Dr. Monette then earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Endicott College.

In addition to her educational credentials, Dr. Monette was named the 2020 Massachusetts Principal of the Year by the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association during her time leading Baird Middle School in Ludlow.

“That recognition meant a great deal to me — not just personally, but because it reflected the collective efforts of the school community I was leading at the time,” Dr. Monette said. “It reminded me that when educators and students work together, with a shared purpose and high expectations, amazing things can happen.”

The Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy (RPA) serves around 160 students in grades 7 through 12, offering a personalized and supportive approach to learning.

“I’m just beginning to dive in, but it’s clear that RPA is a place where relationships and student growth really matter,” Dr. Monette said. “I’m proud to be part of a school that puts student resilience at the center of its mission.”

Superintendent Dr. Tracy Curley welcomed Dr. Monette to the Fall River Public Schools family and expressed confidence that the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy will be in good hands under her leadership.

“We’d like to welcome Dr. Monette to Fall River Public Schools and feel confident that the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy will feel like home to her in no time at all,” said Superintendent Dr. Curley. “She is bringing with her a wealth of experience that matches the culture and needs of the Resiliency Preparatory Academy community. I can’t wait to see where the school will go under her leadership.”
