SOUTHBOROUGH — Chief Ryan Newell reports that the Southborough Police Department arrested a Marlborough man following a traffic stop on charges of drunken driving and trafficking methadone.
SEBASTIAN JOUBERT, AGE 29, of MARLBOROUGH, was arrested and charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Trafficking Methadone (Over 100 Grams)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Receiving a Lost Credit Card
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Failure to Wear a Seat Belt
- Number Plate Violation
On Monday, Aug. 4, at about 1:30 a.m., Officer Theodore Davis was providing backup on a traffic stop when he determined another vehicle driving by had an expired registration.
Officer Davis stopped the car in the area of 118 Framingham Road and noticed the car moving in a manner consistent with the occupants moving around inside.
Officers identified the man in the driver’s seat as JOUBERT and detected a strong odor of alcohol.
Following an on-scene investigation, JOUBERT was arrested for Operating Under the Influence.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a bag in the back seat that contained 627 methadone pills weighing approximately 158 grams, 88 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia associated with drug distribution.
The methadone pills were in prescription bottles prescribed to a different person, and officers also located a debit card that was under a different person’s name. The vehicle was also missing a front license plate.
JOUBERT was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Westborough District Court.
“I would like to commend Officer Davis for his awareness and proactive efforts on patrol,” said Chief Newell. “By following up on a routine registration check, he was able to uncover illegal narcotics and remove them from our community, while also taking an impaired driver off the road. This is just another example of the commitment our officers have to keeping our streets safe.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
