WRENTHAM — The Wrentham Select Board and Town Manager Michael J. King are proud to announce that the new Wrentham Electricity Program has debuted with a lower rate than National Grid’s current and upcoming utility prices.
On Wednesday, July 9, the Town of Wrentham launched its electricity supply program, Wrentham Community Electricity, delivering cost savings and increased renewable energy options for residents and businesses.
The program’s default offering, Wrentham Standard, features a rate of 13.670 ¢/kWh, which is more than 1.8 cents lower than National Grid’s upcoming Residential Basic Service rate of 15.484 ¢/kWh, effective Aug. 1, 2025.
Wrentham Community Electricity offers two electricity supply options:
- Wrentham Standard: This default product offers immediate savings compared to both National Grid’s current rate (14.672 ¢/kWh through July 31) and the upcoming rate (15.484 ¢/kWh starting Aug. 1).
- Wrentham Plus: This optional product provides 100% renewable energy, sourced entirely from New England Class I renewable resources, such as wind and solar.
Although future savings cannot be guaranteed, the program follows a model that has delivered long-term savings for many Massachusetts communities. Rates in Wrentham’s program are fixed for 29 months, until December 2027, offering protection from market fluctuations and providing stable electricity pricing.
Enrollment in the program is automatic, but participation is completely voluntary. Accounts that opted out initially or were not automatically enrolled may opt in at any time to take advantage of the program’s benefits. There is no penalty to opt out, now or in the future.
“The Town of Wrentham is committed to assisting residents with options for energy providers,” said Wrentham Town Manager Michael J. King. “We want to help our residents save on necessities, like electricity, and this new program is a step in that direction.”
