Dighton Town Accountant Sirena Amaral Earns Designation of Certified Governmental Accountant

DIGHTON – Town Administrator Ralph A. Vitacco is pleased to share that Town Accountant Sirena Amaral recently earned the designation of Certified
Governmental Accountant (CGA).

The CGA certification is a credential recognizing municipal accounting professionals who have demonstrated advanced knowledge in governmental accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

The prestigious certification is awarded by the Massachusetts Municipal Auditors’ and Accountants’ Association. The CGA certification is awarded to candidates who complete a rigorous training program and successfully pass comprehensive exams, covering fund accounting, internal controls, municipal budgeting, and Massachusetts municipal finance law.

Amaral’s achievement highlights her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial stewardship for the Town of Dighton.

“We extend our sincere congratulations to Sirena on this well-deserved achievement,” said Town Administrator Vitacco. “Her dedication to professional growth and excellence continues to benefit our town and its residents.”

Amaral was originally appointed as the Dighton Town Accountant in July 2022 by a unanimous vote of the Dighton Board of Selectmen, following a hiring process conducted by a panel composed of the Town’s Financial team, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen and the Town Administrator. Prior to getting hired by the Town of Dighton, Amaral served for four years as the Assistant Town Accountant for the Town of Rockland.

As part of her role as Dighton Town Accountant, Amaral is responsible for monitoring, directing and auditing the Town’s financial and accounting system, including maintenance of the fiscal records and systems of the town. 

“The Town of Dighton commends Sirena Amaral for her continued service and for advancing the town’s financial operations through her expertise and dedication,” said Town Administrator Vitacco.
