On July 24, at approximately 2:51 p.m., Bedford Police were dispatched to Brookline Bank, 168 Great Road, for a report of an individual attempting to cash a check with a fraudulent ID.
Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as a male wearing a pink shirt and gray pants who was seen getting into a 2010 Infinity G37. Bedford Police activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the motor vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police, drove through a red light while leaving the Great Road Plaza, and was driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by another vehicle traveling west. The suspect failed to stop and continued to drive at a high rate of speed toward Pine Street.
Officers continued to pursue the vehicle until it crossed the Lexington town line, where officers were able to stop it on Hartwell Avenue near the entrance to Hanscom Air Base.
When officers approached the vehicle, they observed another male in the passenger seat. While issuing verbal commands for the driver to exit the vehicle, the driver then sped up, nearly striking an officer while fleeing the scene. There were no reported injuries.
Bedford officers discontinued pursuit of the vehicle due to safety concerns and requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police.
At approximately 4 p.m., Bedford Police were notified by Chelmsford Police that the 2010 Infinity had been recovered at the Walmart parking lot in Drum Hill. According to Chelmsford Police, the driver and passenger of the vehicle were seen trying to change their clothing in the store prior to the arrival of police.
Both men were arrested by Chelmsford Police. The driver of the vehicle, identified as TUCKER, was transported to the Bedford Police station for booking. The passenger of the vehicle was booked by Chelmsford Police.
TUCKER was arraigned in Concord District Court.
Chelmsford Police has also charged TUCKER and the passenger of the vehicle with shoplifting.
