Wayland Fire Department Welcomes New Hire, EMT/Paramedic James Sykes

WAYLAND — Chief Neil McPherson is pleased to share that the Wayland Fire Department has welcomed a new hire, EMT/Paramedic James Sykes.

Sykes, a lifelong Wayland resident, officially started with the Department on July 10.

He was recently certified as an EMT/Paramedic and brings his previous experience working as an EMT with a private ambulance company and the Sherborn Fire Department.

Sykes will attend the Massachusetts Fire Academy Career Recruit Program in the future. In the meantime, he will continue to hone his emergency medical skills on the Department’s ambulances.

“Having grown up in Wayland, James’ familiarity with our town will be an asset,” said Chief McPherson. “We are excited to have him join our team.”
