Tewksbury Police Arrest and Charge Man in Connection with Gunfire on Main Street

Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a Tewksbury man in connection with an incident of gunfire outside of a Main Street business. 

TEWKSBURY – Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department arrested and charged a Tewksbury man in connection with an incident of gunfire outside of a Main Street business. 

CRAIG COLLINS, AGE 38, OF TEWKSBURY, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault With a Dangerous Weapon (two counts)
  • Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building (two counts)
  • Disorderly Conduct

On Thursday, July 3, at approximately 11 p.m., Tewksbury Police were called to the area of 1928 Main St., for a report of gunshots.

Multiple officers responded to the area and determined that an individual fired two gunshots while involved in an argument with other individuals outside of a Main Street business. 

Officers located two spent shell casings at the scene. There were no reported injuries or property damage.

A preliminary investigation identified COLLINS as a suspect, and officers located Collins at his home in Tewksbury a short time later. COLLINS was taken into custody without incident. A loaded firearm was later located by police. 

COLLINS had a license to carry firearms, but his license was immediately revoked by the Tewksbury Police Department upon his arrest. 

COLLINS is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.

An investigation into the incident remain ongoing.

These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
