WINTHROP — Fire Chief Scott Wiley reports that the Winthrop Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire in a single-family home Saturday evening.
On Saturday, June 28, at approximately 7:18 p.m., Winthrop Fire responded to reports of a fire at 43 Trident Ave.
Crews arrived to heavy fire showing from the home and immediately struck a second alarm to bring additional resources to the scene.
Firefighters were initially informed that a resident may have been inside the home. A search of the structure determined that the individual was not present and was later confirmed to be safe.
Two firefighters were evaluated at the scene for heat exhaustion but did not require medical treatment. No injuries were reported.
The home has been deemed a total loss. One resident has been displaced as a result of the fire.
The Boston, Chelsea, Everett and Revere Fire Departments and Massport Fire Rescue provided mutual aid.
The fire is being investigated by the Winthrop Fire Department and the State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
“Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of our Winthrop Fire crews and mutual aid partners, we were able to bring a dangerous fire under control before it could spread to neighboring homes,” said Chief Wiley. “I’m proud of their work tonight and grateful that no one was hurt. Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their prompt response.”
