CANTON — Superintendent-Director Jill Rossetti and Principal Geoffrey Zini are proud to announce that Blue Hills Regional Technical School has named Jill Ferris as the school’s new Vocational Director, effective July 1.

Vocational Director Ferris brings more than two decades of experience in the dental field to her new role, having held various roles, including Certified Dental Assistant, Registered Dental Hygienist, Dental Assisting Program Director and Instructor, and site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Ferris also brings 12 years of experience in education, a passion for student success, and a commitment to collaboration.

“I’m very excited to begin this new chapter as Vocational Director at Blue Hills Regional,” Ferris said. “I am thrilled to join an amazing team, and I look forward to continuing the great work being done here at Blue Hills.”

Most recently, Ferris served as the Dental Assisting Program Director and Instructor at Southeastern Regional School District, where she focused on developing rigorous, hands-on curriculum with an emphasis on employability skills that prepared students for success in the dental field and beyond.

She has overseen all aspects of program management, including curriculum design, community engagement, and student support.

Blue Hills’ current Vocational Director, Michelle Sylvia, is retiring after nine years of service at the school.

“In just a short time working with Jill, it’s clear she brings strong experience in vocational education and compliance,” Sylvia said. “She’s personable, intelligent, and deeply committed to helping students succeed in their chosen career paths. As a bonus, she’s exceptionally well-suited to lead the launch of the new dental program.”

Passionate about career and technical education, Ferris, a Taunton resident, is committed to supporting educators and helping students achieve meaningful outcomes. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters, attending live music events, and reading.

“Jill brings a wealth of experience, a collaborative spirit, and a deep-rooted commitment to student success,” said Principal Zini. “She’s not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also thoughtful in how she brings people together to support learning. Her impact is felt by both students and staff, and we’re fortunate to have her as part of our team.”

Ferris is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Fitchburg State University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Bay Path University and an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Cape Cod Community College. In 2000, Ferris earned a diploma from the CODA-accredited Dental Assisting Program at Southeastern Technical Institute.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jill Ferris as our new Vocational Director,” said Superintendent-Director Rossetti. “Her deep knowledge of career and technical education, coupled with her proven leadership experience, made her the clear choice for this critical role. Jill brings a strong vision for program growth, a commitment to equity and student achievement, and a collaborative spirit that aligns perfectly with our mission. We’re confident she will be a tremendous asset to our school community and to the future of vocational education at Blue Hills.”
