CANTON — Superintendent-Director Jill Rossetti is pleased to announce that Blue Hills Regional Technical School has hired Elvio A. Ferreira as its new Business Manager.
Ferreira, the former superintendent of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School from 2019 to 2022, has been working as a Bay State educator since 2000.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth in 1998, a Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese from UMass-Dartmouth in 2001, a Master of Arts in Teaching from UMass-Dartmouth in 2004 and his Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University in 2018.
Most recently, Ferreira served as Director of Career and Technical Education for Brockton Public Schools.
“Over the last 25 years, I have transitioned from classroom teacher to school-based administrator to district-level administrator,” Ferreira said. “These various duties have enabled me to develop the skill set necessary to lead a school towards continual and focused success. I have welcomed all responsibilities and used these experiences to better prepare myself for educational leadership.”
Prior to taking the helm as superintendent of Diman, Ferreira wore many hats at the school, including business manager (2022), principal/assistant superintendent (2016-2019), vocational coordinator (2015-2016), academic coordinator (2011-2015) and dean of students (2009-2011).
“I enjoy immersing myself in multiple facets of the education process, and I am always looking to take away valuable information from every experience,” Ferreira said.
Ferreira will begin his tenure at Blue Hills Regional Technical School in July.
“As a district-level leader, I have become very familiar with the grant process and the acceptable uses of those funds,” Ferreira said. “I have had the opportunity to serve on multiple collective bargaining negotiation sessions and have also had the experience of dealing with grievance processes as they relate to teacher contracts and negotiations.”
Prior to working at Diman, Ferreira worked as a world language teacher at Dighton Middle School (2008-2009), English Language Learner (ELL) director/assistant principal for Fall River Public Schools (2007-2008), assistant principal at Normandin Middle School in New Bedford (2006-2007) and world language teacher at Somerset Middle School (2000-2006).
“I have had the pleasure of working with some of the finest educators in southeastern Massachusetts,” Ferreira said. “My educational philosophy has been molded by local area superintendents who have worked together through the South Coast Educational Collaborative and Boston University.”
Superintendent-Director Rossetti welcomed Ferreira to his new post.
“Elvio Ferreira is a uniquely qualified candidate to work at Blue Hills Regional Technical School,” said Superintendent-Director Rossetti. “His impressive work history has run the gamut, from language teacher to top administrator. He has a deep breadth of experience in vocational education, and we’re looking forward to benefiting from his years of learning and leadership.”
